custom design project :: nonprofit campaign :: Water For People #changethat

Back in August, I worked on a fundraising mail campaign for Water For People. This campaign was centered around their #ChangeThat efforts.

The campaign consisted of three postcards and a buckslip (aka donation slip) to be mailed out in an envelope. The campaign was designed to elicit action on the part of the recipient, not only through a donation, but also by having them share Water For People with someone who might want to be involved with the cause and by sharing how they are helping to #ChangeThat.

The first postcard has a startling statistic:

A CHILD DIES EVERY 21 SECONDS FROM A WATER-RELATED ILLNESS.

On the back, the recipient finds the three calls to action:

  1. Support the efforts of Water For People through a donation.
  2. Send on the second postcard to someone who might want to get involved.
  3. Share how they are helping to #ChangeThat by returning the third postcard.
The second postcard to be sent to someone who might be interested in supporting Water For People shares a brutal fact:

50% OF WATER PUMPS IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD BREAK AFTER TWO YEARS SENDING WOMEN AND CHILDREN BACK TO COLLECTING DIRTY WATER FROM STREAM, PONDS, AND SCOOP HOLES.

On the back, the recipient can write a note and send the postcard on.

The third postcard allows the recipient to share how they are helping to make a change and can be mailed back to Water For People postage paid.

It was a great experience working on this project, and it was a nice change from my usual design projects. I love working on wedding invitations, birth announcements, and *REMEMBER the days*, but projects like this one (and the business portfolio) offer a good variety in my workflow.

I hope to work with Water For People again in the future, and I will certainly share those projects if I do.
